Quit following the Follower
If there is one thing that should be avoided at all cost, that would be Conformity. It is imperative to state here that if there is one thing the Altar of Higher Education has achieved successfully then that should be to sow deep within each individual the Sheep mindset.
So what is the mindset of the Sheep? Simply follow the one before you. Even if that one before you has no clue to where he is going. For all that he is doing is, following the one before, who apparently doesn’t even realize that the road led by its leader is filled with carcasses of dead and lost.
Take the example of Fashion. When was the last time you questioned yourself, if the Jean which you had spent a fortune on and that which is riddled with holes and tears, yet is considered fashionably adorable, why? Because those around you were foolish enough to buy them, and why did they buy them? Because the so called celebrities of the world, whom the world considers to be Experts in every walk of life are seen flaunting them, and so you, in all of the wisdom has likewise thought it be to Cool and Charismatic to spend your hard earned dollar in buying the trash.
So now your wardrobe is filled with collection of trash and torn ones, which are so disdainfully despicable that even a beggar would shun them.
The Fashion industry knew this
If there be one Industry which has clearly understood the masses mindset, then it is the Fashion industry. Have you ever wondered why they always conduct Fashion shows?
The industry knows that if they were to clad 100 people with putrid mess and parade them on the ramp, with bling bling lights all over and paid people around, yelling and clapping, with acclamation of, “wow!’, “wonderful”, “gorgeous”, then they could even sell a brand called Sh#t for millions.
The Consumer Product industry knows this too
When was the last time you had stopped to look into the Product information of the Toothpaste that you are using? Don’t bother you never did. You probably bought that Toothpaste, because of the colorful advertising that you saw, and soon your neighbor was seen using it, then everybody around, and eventually you fell into the hole too. Not even knowing that every morning you are voluntarily smearing your gums with toxins that would soon lead you to the dentist’s chair, who would take time in rooting out the rotting tooth, leaving you nothing but a gum that could merely sip liquids.
It has gone worse now with the Social Media
Now the news gets around fast. It all takes merely 1000 people to do some viewing and some able marketing, to make them believe that the things that they are seeing is the best thing to do under the sun.
Take for example the Vacation spot, called Hawaii. Hawaii is a place which has Shark infested waters, and Volcano clad mountains. No one has a clue when and where danger would strike. Yet the so called influencers of the Social Media world, with some cleverly crafted video had painted a picture that the place is Heaven on Earth.
The marketing gimmicks were so successful that soon people started flocking there without even taking time to think the dangers involved.
Why are to saying this? Just to enlighten and draw your attention that if it is good for the group, then it is the worse possible thing to do. For the group carries the mindset of the Sheep, and to lead a million Sheep to slaughter, all it takes is to lead the head Sheep, the rest would simply follow.
Story time
We end this post by telling one of the most popular stories that the Dean of Professional and Personal development, Mr. Earl Nightingale, would often tell to his listeners.
There was this Jeweler who had often noticed a gentleman often standing before of his shop for a brief time every morning and adjust his wrist watch. And this happened for 10 years.
One day, inquisitiveness got the better of the Jeweler, and so he ventured out of his shop just when the gentleman was about to leave. He just asked the man, “tell me sir, why do you often stand before my shop and glaze at my wall clock and adjust your watch?” To this the gentleman replied, “pardon me sir, I am the Time keeper at the Steel Factory’s Tower Clock, and I set the Tower Clock’s time seeing the Clock that is hung in your Jewelry store”
To this the Jeweler remarked after brief pause, “oh!, all these years, I had been setting my Clock, seeing the Tower Clock”
