Planning is the most Critical part of a person’s life
It is reported that 90% of the Americans have no clue as to why they wake up everyday and head to work.
The famous Body builder, Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger, once said, had I not planned my life, I would be now yodeling in the Alps of Austria, with a wife and five kids and never ever could I have achieved all that I had achieved. As the famous Motivational Speaker, Mr.Jim Rohn used to say, “People who fail to plan are those who are planning to fail”
You might own the best ship, but if you do not have the Course of the Ship, planned well, then 9 out of 10 times, your ship would end up among the rocks latent beneath the waters.
The saddest part is, most don’t even realize this. They head into life as if life woes them peaches and plums. The spend all of their Youth’s vital energy chasing girls, and when they 30, suddenly they find themselves on a road of no return. With teens around them calling them as “Uncles” and “Big man”, with a child to rear and a wife who constantly bickers at the lack of money.
A classic way to illustrate this sorrowful plight would be to narrate the life event that happened in Mr. Jim Rohn’s life.
This incident occurred when Mr. Rohn was in his mid twenties. Working for Sears, Mr. Rohn, was married and had a family and heaps of responsibilities surrounding it.
One fine day, Mr. Rohn, heard a knock on his door, and there stood a young girl from the Girl’s Scout wing. In her hand she held boxes of Candies that were meant to raise funds for the Girl’s Scout through their sales. There she stood and gave a marvelous sales presentation.
A box for 2 dollars, and each box contains multi-flavored candies all coated with chocolates and nuts, so delicious that they would melt in your mouth. You pop one in, you would want one more, your friends would love it, and so would you. So, buy now, Sir!
The talk moved Mr. Rohn, so much, that he instantly wanted to buy a box. But the problem is, he didn’t have 2 dollars. So lied to the young girl that he had already procured many such boxes, favoring the Girl’s Scout movement.
The young girl politely thanked Mr. Rohn, and left. Mr. Rohn, closed the door and felt so miserable that he decided, never in his life would he ever be poor and broke. That was the beginning of the making of a Millionaire.
It is imperative to understand, Mr. Rohn’s case isn’t an isolated one. Scores and Scores of brilliant young men and women today are still facing the same situation as Mr. Rohn. The irony is, their eyes are so blind that they are incapable to realize their state and still move on with their lives as if nothing ever matters.
They might be much happy with their current positions, never even realizing for a minute that their current status and job position is always not theirs that they could hold on. Specially when middle age strikes, and sickness and fatigue dominates their lifestyle, when they tend to become more sloppy at their work place.
Things starts to take the worse turns. That is when their contract comes for renewal, the chances that they would get their contract renewed and approved would be more against their favor. Meaning, the corporation doesn’t want to offer another Contract to them.
With forties on the horizon, and with all of the companies wanting fresh blood, the question now remains, who would wish to invest in a man who has passed his prime and who has in his past 17 years of employment hasn’t learned or acquired a New skill.
The once Event Manager now has to settle down for something less. Say, a security at the Local Museum, or a supervisor for janitors at the cleaning company, worse still, he might be offered only the post of a janitor.
You might think, we are talking through our hat, but No! We talking based on countless examples and true life situations.
In his 4 season illustration, Mr. Rohn, explains it well. All of us have 4 seasons given unto us. Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. An intelligent person is one who anticipates these seasons and works with them.
Conclusion
The Take home lesson to all. Plan your life’s journey. Remember, life is hard and it gets harder with age. No one wants an old man or woman, working for them.
