Never ever accept a free lunch
Yes! we mean it. You know why we are saying that? Cause the minute you accept a free lunch, you become a slave to the person who provides you with.
Of course they would smile their way through and would tell you that they are extending that hospitality for the sake of Brotherly love. But let us tell you this, 95% of the times, their never mean a single word that they say it to you.
Of course you might say, Oh! No, they are our brethren, and we had known them for ages and they all have the love of brotherhood in them. Hey! just wait and before you could go ahead, let us tell you this. We live in a world where Money dictates the proceedings of the day and the minute people realize that you have nothing to bring to the table, you are good as dead meat.
So, the next time you finish Church, don’t follow your invite, just head straight back home. Sit there in a quiet corner and enjoy your Bread and water, this is advice from the Bible. Because, every grain you eat from the other man’s table, you are enslaving yourself in his shackles. And to tell you the truth, there is nothing worse than losing one’s freedom.
Of course, the people who provide you with the free lunch wold never tell you their ulterior motives, for that is the way it is, but often times when the ball comes to play, and you need to defend yourself against an act perpetrated against you, you will hesitate, probably would talk yourself out of it. For, deep within, a sense of gratitude comes in to you, “oh!, for days they had given me this free lunch, so let me keep stay quiet to whatever accusations and blames that they are lauding at me, for I shall suffer now, and enjoy their free lunch tomorrow”
By doing this, you are committing what is called as spiritual suicide. The moment, self respect, self esteem, and self dependence flees, you become nothing more than a meat loaf. For according to the great writer, Mr. Bald, “there is nothing special in a man except his mind, for everything that is in him is also found in a pig or a horse”
Very true, and for your mind to work, you ought to have a high level of self esteem and self reliance, for out of these two, the ability to fight your way through and rise above the challenges ariseth.
But the minute you comprise these areas of your life, your life goes for a tail spin. You feel indebted to the people and thus loose your guard and allow every Tom, Dick and Harry, to take a swing at you.
So the bottom line is this, of course we all know what it means to be hungry and being broke, in any case, do not give up your self esteem. You want to know why we are saying that? For self esteem is the single most power deep within that would keep you going, to rise up every time you get knocked down.
Stay hungry, no matter what, you are not going to die. Do not let the fangs of hunger steel your dreams, your passion, your desire to succeed in life. For the minute you taste their wine and bread, you are enslaved.
The Bible talks about this in a beautiful manner.
When Moses, the liberator, frees the Israelites from the clutches of the Pharaoh and leads them to freedom. The Israelites never seemed to stop their bickering and their back stabbings. Day in day out, they were complaining about everything.
Just imagine, you just got your freedom from hard labor and toil, and you are fleeing the sword of the enemy, you are in the middle of a desert, and here you are complaining that you are going through pain. Well, in that case, how was the feeling when the Egypt’s tough task masters were carving your back with their iron leaded whips, just to say the least.
And to add fuel to the fire, their favorite words were, “how great we were at Egypt, as we sat around the flesh pot, eating the meat with onions and cucumber, Oh! boy, how we cherished every bit of it”
Would you believe this? How naive and stooped down can these people be? Here we have Moses, bringing them out of slavery, out of bondage, yet still, all they had wanted is to return back to Egypt. Why did they say that? For the simple fact that they had put their tummy above and self respect below.
When your desire is to merely feed your hunger, you will often settle to a life of mediocrity. To rise high up, you will require passion. Stay hungry.
