The longer it takes for you to succeed, the better you become
People of the world always wish and earn that Success dawns upon them overnight. But what they fail to understand that the longer it takes the better a person becomes. Now you might ask, why do we say that? As always we would use an illustration to illustrate our point.
Are you ever aware how many once Rich and successful Athletes are broke?
The prestigious NBA has made several millionaires overnight. We all know, Michael Jordans and the Magic Johnsons, and that they are multimillionaires, but what we do not know is the story behind those other untold and unseen, innumerable Athletes who were Rich once and are now broke. Broke so much that they are living in shelters.
Some of those stories are so worse that tears would roll out to anybody who listens to those pathetic tales. Incidents such as where a NBA Hall of fame Athlete, ends up in a car wash job are becoming all the more common now.
In One such instant a hall of fame Athlete was working at a Car wash, wearing his hall of fame ring, but accidentally while during a wash, his ring makes a very slight scratch on a customer Bentley.
The owner of the car notices it and brings it to the owner’s attention. The owner burst out at the Athlete asking him to remove the ring or pay for the damage. When the Athlete refused to do either, he was beaten up so badly that the humiliation that he suffered was nothing compared to the physical hurt that he received.
The case that we mentioned here is just not an isolated issue. Because, Athletes from ever area of their respective professional fields are met with fates similar to the one we had mentioned.
The Lesson that Iron Mike gave us all, after his career
Just look at Iron Mike Tyson. It was estimated that Iron Mike Tyson, made half a billion dollars during his career. It was reported that Mike Tyson literally used to forget where he parked his car and would then and there, buy the most fanciest car just to save face, would you believe that? At one point, Mike owned some of the world’s most Exotic pets, like the Siberian White Tiger and Chimpanzees.
But do you know what befell Mike? Bankruptcy. A serious of wild behaviors had caused Mike to fall from grace, so much so that his temper and lackadaisical lifestyle led him to commit acts that no stable person would even think of committing. And then when reality dawned upon him, Mike was already at the bottom.
It is terrible and sometimes pathetic to see and hear Mike loathing his glory filled past. The past that took him from streets and ascended him to the top, so much so there were photo shoots with Mike holding even a scepter. But Mike’s foolishness was so intense that he lost them all.
Train hard to achieve Mental stability
It is imperative to understand that the sooner success comes, the sooner it leaves. Success is just like building Muscles. Have you seen bodybuilders yearning to build muscle, launching themselves on the Steroid path.
Instead of pounding their muscles, they want to pound their kidneys. They consume innumerable supplements, all in the name of building muscles, and then finally one fine day, as they stand before the mirror admiring their muscles, a sharp pain from lower back erupts. Welcome to the world kidney damage.
So from then on, the graph takes a downward slope. Now they are not even in a position to lift 10 pound dumbbell, leave alone benching 500 pounds. To justify our point, take a look at the greats of the body building industry, how quickly they had perished with multitudes of complication.
Moral
Remember this, don’t aspire for overnight success, but aspire for the ability to pursue Success. For, it is the journey that makes you strong. Every day delayed means, you are working on the grind. Your mind is becoming better, your attitude is getting refined. More so, Success delayed will only make you to hold on to firmly when it arrives. For the world is filled with countless people who had it once but threw it all away.
It is also important to understand, life never gives anyone a second chance. If you get a chance, you should be happy you got one, and make the best use of it. So, the next time your book got rejected don’t feel hard, just walk past that publisher and knock on the next door.
Remember you will only be considered a failure if you lay down there long enough, right after your first knock. But on the contrary, the minute you rise up, it is no longer a failure but an opportunity to learn how strong your opponent can punch.
