How is the Water?
There was this popular story of two fish swimming in a lake. As they were moving about around the cliffs in search of small sea weeds, an Old fish accosted them and asked, “friends, how is the water?”. To this one of the fish turned to the other and responded, “what is he talking about?”.
There is a huge moral in this story, and that is, most people are not even aware what they are into. They simply go through their daily routine. It is reported that 80% of the Americans are not even sure why they wake up every morning. Would you believe that? Clueless they spend the day. There are 60 seconds in a minute and each second has the potential to change one’s life if used in the right manner.
The question is, how many of us are even aware of this great gift that the Creator has given unto us. It is said, an Empty purse burdens the Heart. A Household survey conducted among families that earn 200,000$ a year, found that the average accumulated debt is about a Million dollars. With 6% interest that the bank places on the debt, 99% will spend the rest of their lives trying to repay their loan.
The irony is most die in their debt. This is no joke but a hard reality. A Study took 100 Americans at about the age of 23, and studied their lives for the next 40 years, and found that 50% don’t even make it to 60 years, while around 47% are dead broke. 2% are financially independent, while just 0.5$, are Rich.
The reason for this appalling statistics is largely due to the lackadaisical attitude adopted at a very young age. The failure to understand the times that we are living in.
This day and age requires people who are multi talented and who continuously develop themselves. The greatest asset lies on the top of our shoulders, the saddest part is, a mere 2% take measures to realize that and work on in developing it. This 2% are the people whom the world considers, Rich and Wealthy.
Though each and everyone of us have the potential and resources to change our lives, yet, we choose not to. If you were to tell this to an average 30 year old, he will reply by saying, “I have no time, when I reach home, I just have just enough time to grab a bite and relax before my TV, enjoying the Ball game”.
