Your Teachers limit your Reach
Tell us when was the last time your Teacher told you that you can have all that you aspire for in life? Don’t bother, probably never. Have you ever realized why most people are waking up to head to a job that they hate, and yet still continue on doing the same job for the next 30 years of their life time?
One primary reason is that no one had ever told them during their High School days that if they don’t like the things that they were doing, they could always change.
As the famous Motivational Speaker, Mr. Jim Rohn, once said, if you don’t life the place you were living, just change, you are not a tree.
Very true, but why most don’t even dare to take the first Step? The reasons are even clearer, for when they ventured to take that Step that which they thought was doable whilst at School, their Teacher brought the Ax down on them.
With scores of shouts and condemnation and so much so that you went down on your knees to ask forgiveness, or at least made to feel the shame of attempting such a thing as creative thinking.
“You cannot do this”, “you cannot do that”, “you need to be like this”, “you cannot be the way you are”, with countless dos and don’ts and then at one particular point in your life you came to realize that, “well, it appears that whatever I started to initiate had been found to be mowed down or found fault with, may be I am wrong and the teacher is right as always, so let me go into my shell and live my life out”
Once this feeling insecurity sets in, you put your own shackles on and live to perish in the rat race.
Story time
Have you ever noticed a flea? It is also called a louse or a tick. Now the flea is the only insect that is gifted with a capacity to jump vertically to a height of 36 inches. That is why, if you have a dog, the chances are there that your hair is infested with fleas. You might not know that or even be aware of that, but the probability is quiet high.
Now, if you were to take a Mason Jar and put say, 100 fleas into it, and then shut it with the lid and were to observe the action of the fleas, you would be amazed.
For the first 6 days, the trapped fleas would be making their 36 inch jumps, but would soon come to the realization that the lid at the top just wouldn’t let them do that.
Gradually this realization would set in and all of the fleas would start making jumps that are just sufficient to get them closer to the lid, say about 6 or 7 inches. In a course of time, when these fleas would reproduce and their children would also get the same mindset, and their children’s children too would inherit the same, and within weeks, 100,000 fleas trapped in the Mason Jar would have a mindset that they could only merely make a jump of a few inches.
The Realization
Do you realize now, an insect with gifted capacity to jump, 36 inches, has been reduced to making jumps of a few inches. Are you getting the hint as to what we are trying to get across?
Most teachers are exactly playing the lid on the Mason Jar. The moment when a student tries to make the 36 inch vertical flight, the lid comes reeling at the student, telling him, no way! just stay where you are and do what you have been told, conform or else perish.
That is one of the primary reasons why many even after their schooling aren’t sufficiently motivated to go for their dreams. In fact, most don’t even have a dream or a vision. They simply sail like a log at the mercy of the waves.
An animal born in the wild stands up the minute it was born, and becomes self reliant within a week. But humans would need a life time of Schooling and University education even to earn a basic salary.
Why? The reason being, no one had told that young man or young woman, that there is this element of greatness hidden in and all they ought to do is to discover that and go after greatness.
