Don’t be given to your Emotions and React
Do you know, America is home to 5% of the World’s population, but houses 25% of the World’s prisoners. It is imperative to understand that not all of the people who are Incarcerated are bad. Of course there are some notoriously bad people who have lost their ability to live in a Civilized society, however we are not talking about those. But on those who had given their emotions the upper hand and had reacted thus leading them to prison.
There is this example that we would share here to highlight this point. The point that no matter what the astounding situation that you are been put to, do not let your emotions to dictate you the Outcome.
If you would do that, then one of the two things would be the result. One, the loss that you would incur because of your reaction, two, you would be locked up forever.
So, the most intelligent way to conduct is to hold yourself. For the Bible says, “He who controls his anger is greater than the one who taketh a City by force“
The incident
Once upon a time there lived a happy family by the river Nile. The father was a farmer and the mother a house wife, and they had a lovely boy child of 6 months old.
The mother loved her son so much that he became her world. One day as the farmer was ploughing his land he heard some cries. The cry sounded similar to that of a child.
So, the farmer headed towards the direction of the cry and soon discovered that it was a baby Mongoose. Probably the baby was separated from the mother, or may be the mother was killed by predators.
The baby Mongoose looked very fragile and thin, the appearance conveyed as if the Mongoose had been there without food for a couple of days. Feeling the pain of the baby, the humanity of the farmer kicked in, he immediately held his hands out, and to his astonishment, the baby held his hands. The touch of Humanity that the farmer felt was beyond the reach that words could illustrate or describe.
The farmer, immediately raised the Mongoose and gave it a kiss of tenderly love. And wanting to share his find with his wife, the farmer, heads off, leaving his chores for the morning. While on the way, he grabs a few pints of milk from the local farm, and starts to feed the baby Mongoose.
Tender Love and Care, rejuvenates the Mongoose
The milk with love brings greater rejuvenation to the Mongoose, and smiles of life and security. Upon reaching home, the farmer was was quick to share his joy with his wife, who was a bit skeptical about the Mongoose, and soon dissuades him from keeping the Mongoose.
Her fear is that the Mongoose would grow up and attack the Child eventually and she doesn’t want to take the chance of keeping something that would turn into an adversary to her baby boy.
But the Farmer finds her excuse too absurd and reckless. There arises an argument between the Man and the Woman, and the argument passes on for days.
Farmer assures his wife, but she holds on to her half baked skeptical-ism
The Farmer assures that he had known the behavior of Mongooses and that they would do anything to protect their owners from attacks of wild beasts and others, and more so, if in case if she does face any problem at a later stage, he would volunteer to let the Mongoose go.
The assurance seemed to work for the time being. So the argument reached this agreement. As days passed by the wife too became too fond of the baby Mongoose, for it was so good and loyal that it gave all of its love to the family.
As months passed by, the Mongoose grew up to be a strong stalwart. Guarding the house when the mother was away in the yard doing her chores. The mother was happy as the baby had now a companion to play with. Then one fateful day the unthinkable happened.
The Unthinkable-wish only if she had learned the habit to Think first
As the Farmer was away in the farm, the mother headed to the nearby river to fetch water for the family. Confidently she left the baby in the company of the Mongoose. Now during the time she was away, the Baby in the cradle and the Mongoose at the head of the house waiting for his master and his mistress to arrive, suddenly hears some rustling at the rear end of the house.
With quick instincts the Mongoose jumps up to investigate the source of the sound, there to his shock, he discovers a Nile Cobra, sporadically in search of food at the kitchen side.
Knowing very well that if left, the Nile Cobra would for sure kill the un-noticing mistress, the Mongoose bounces into action, launching a frontal attack at the full grown matured Cobra.
They fight for the next hour or so, for Nile Cobras are known for their dangerous skill to out last and kill animals that are far greater and bigger than them.
Dedicated Mongoose, gives it all to protect the family, but the woman’s foolishness overwhelms her
But with dedication and strength, the Mongoose overpowers the Cobra, kills it and snips its head off. With blood all over its face, the Mongoose gloriously walks past to greet his coming mistress.
But as foolishness would have its way, and that some individuals have folly all covered and running in their blood streams, the woman with the pot on her hips sees the Mongoose at the head of the house assumes that the Mongoose, to be the one who had perpetrated the killing of her only son.
And as fury that over whelms a fool, blinding her eyes and her senses, she, without even a hair of thought, whirls the pot with water on to the greeting poor creature.
The weight crushes the innocent protector and crashes its neck. The foolish mother rushes in to see her baby safely playing.
When folly dies, senses comes to terms
But how, if the Mongoose had not killed the baby, then what had caused the blood around its mouth. Soon, she heads to the kitchen and there to her fright she discovers the Nile Cobra, split into two.
“Oh! what have I done? I have done the worst foolishness”, saying this, she hurries to see the state of the Mongoose, there the creature lies in a pool of bed, paying the price for its loyalty.
When the farmer arrives, he learns off his wife’s foolishness. He just couldn’t take it. A creature so feeble and kind, yet ventures out to save the family. The shock was so heavy on him that his speech gets muted. The wife realizes this and she goes insane, blaming her foolishness.
The Moral, let not your actions be dictated by your Emotion and if you let it, you are done.
